Breaking news

2.05.09 – Saturday – Yesterday we came back to “Two Oceans” after our tour of the islands on the catamaran “Millenium”. We had a marvelous, luxourious trip, visited a lot of interesting places in which I took a lot of pictures. Normally I would have sat down to write about it all for the blog but something happened and it took my mind elsewhere. A few month ago, Steve had a short incident of  pulse irregularity, with no other symptoms. He felt absolutely well, was perscribed some medication and rest, and made the facts known to us. His doctor was aware of his plans and did not limit him in any way. Yesterday morning, before boarding the speedboat that serves as a ferry to Santa Cruz, he felt the thing coming back. After arriving at Puerto Ayora he sought medical advise, including that of the cardiologist who treated him in the first occurence. That doctor suggested that he should not go on the trip. Steve, the good man that he is, was worried about our trip more than about his health. I told him that the first priority was his health and his responsibility to his family ( as if he does not know…) and that his commitment to the voyage is way down below that. Zvi, with his vast experience agreed that the two of us could do the leg by ourselves. So that’s it – regretfully Steve has to go back home. I cannot emphasize enough his contribution to the voyage ever since he joined the team; His technical skills were of great help, the connection he forged with “Undersea Hunter” made our stay in Cocos island a fantastic event, not to mention the repair of our watermaker. He organized the Galapagos tour which was simply super. Last but not least – he found Zvi for us as well as Joel who is joining in the Marquesas!

So, my friend, go home, get well and when you do – come back to “Two Oceans”, you know you have an open invitation!

For now I’ll only post some pictures I took on the Galapagos tour. Text will follow some other time.
